LORETTO, Pa.- Saint Francis women's tennis Head Coach
Eric Hovan announced the additions Sophia Cunningham, Lindsey Greb, Dasha Chichkina and Morgan Tuffs to the 2023 signing class.
Sophia Cunningham
Cunningham is a Pittsburgh, Pa. native who comes to Saint Francis from Mt. Lebanon High School. Cunningham is a four-year letter winner at Mt. Lebanon who is a very decorated player. Cunningham is WPIAL doubles champion and won a WPIAL team championship with the Blue Devils. Cunningham is an honor roll student at Mt. Lebanon and intends to major in Exercise Science/Kinesiology at Saint Francis.
"Sophia is an extremely talented player who has made tremendous gains in the level of her game over the last two years." Hovan said. "Sophia is extremely motivated and has had some great results this fall. We love her enthusiasm and can't wait to see what she can accomplish over her 4 years at Saint Francis.".
Lindsey Greb
Greb hails from Butler, Pa., and plays for Knoch Senior High School. Greb is a three time district champion and a one time state champion in doubles on an individual level, adding on to the two district and state championships she won with the Knights. Greb is an honor roll student and member of the National Honor Society at Knoch. She intends to major in Biology at Saint Francis.
"Lindsey comes from one of the top high school programs in the state of Pennsylvania." Hovan said. "Lindsey has been part of a state championship team as well as winning state gold in Doubles. I love the enthusiasm that Lindsey exhibits on and off the court, and she is going to be an amazing teammate and someone who will continuously improve.".
Morgan Tuffs
Tuffs comes to Loretto from Calgary, Alberta in Canada. Tuffs plays for Grandview Prepatory School, where she is a team captain. Tuffs is an honor roll student at Grandview and intends to major in Biology at Saint Francis.
"From the moment Morgan stepped on campus, we knew she would be a great fit for our team academically, athletically, and as an amazing teammate." Hovan said. "Morgan has a really solid game off the ground and is improving each day at Evert Academy. She is very coachable and really driven to make an immediate impact this coming Fall.".
Dasha Chichkina
Chichkina is a native of Richboro, Pa., and plays at Council Rock South High School. Chichkina is a team captain for the Golden Hawks and helped lead them to a PIAA team state championship in 2023. She placed fourth at the PIAA State Champions individually during her sophomore year and second in her junior year. Chichkina is an honor roll student at Council Rock South and intends to major in Physical Therapy at Saint Francis.
"Dasha is ranked in the top 150 players in the country and has an 8.33 UTR. She is a very fierce competitor on the court and someone who will bring great energy to practices and matches." Hovan said. "Dasha has a very versatile game and does a great job in disrupting the rhythm of her opponent. She was part of a PIAA Team State Championship this fall and will be someone that we expect to make a meaningful contribution to our lineup right away.".
