SELECT GAME NOTES VS. PITT GREENSBURG (FULL GAME NOTES PDF)
FRANKIES TIDBITS IN A FLASH
• Monday's game between Saint Francis and Pitt Greensburg marks the first-ever meeting in the all-time series.
• The game against Pitt Greensburg marks the fourth and final branch of the University of Pittsburgh schools that sponsor athletics to appear on the Red Flash schedule in program history.
• Saint Francis has played the main campus of Pittsburgh 30 times, including defeating the Panthers 80-70 to open up the 2020-21 season. The Oakland campus is the only Division I team of the Pittsburgh branches.
• The Loretto program has also played Pitt Johnstown, a Division II school, and Pitt Bradford, a Division III school just like Pitt Greensburg. Saint Francis is 5-0 against the non-Division I Pittsburgh campus.
• Two nearby campuses to Saint Francis are in Pitt Greensburg's conference the Allegheny Mountain College Conference: Mount Aloyisius and Penn State-Altoona.
• The Frankies are coming off a four-game road trip to start the season. The four games away from DeGol Arena are the most since the 2003-04 season.
• The first five games of the season against UCLA, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Penn State and now the home opener is one of the toughest starts in program history for the Red Flash.
• The first four teams went 96-44 in 2022-23 with UCLA and Penn State both participating in the NCAA Tournament at Santa Clara playing in the NIT.
• The only season that might rival this five-game start as far as difficulty is the 2018-19 season. The Red Flash started the season with four road games at Buffalo, UCLA, North Carolina and Virginia Tech. All four of those teams won at least 20 games and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
• The second game that season was a home game against Morgan State, who finished 13-19 in 2017-18.
• Saint Francis makes its DeGol Arena debut and is 30-8 in the home opener after starting on the road dating back to the 1950-51 season.
• The Red Flash is 32-3 in the season opener being at home for a combined 62-11 in the first game of the season in Loretto.
• The Loretto program defeated Hartford 77-53 on November 12, 2021 in last year's home opener.
• Saint Francis is 8-3 in home openers at DeGol Arena under head coach
Rob Krimmel.
NOTE: The first home game of the 2013-14 season against Navy was a 60-57 win at the War Memorial in Johnstown. The first game in Loretto was a 75-43 loss to American.
• This is the sixth time the Frankies will open its home schedule against a member of NCAA Division III under Krimmel.
• Saint Francis has started its home schedule twice against Franciscan (2017-18, 2021-22) along with Keystone (2014-15), Westminster (2015-16) and Chatham (2016-17).
NOTE: Hartford was in the process of moving down to NCAA Division III last season, but was still considered a Division I team.
• This game marks the 12th time Saint Francis has played a non-Division I opponent under Krimmel, and the first of two-straight tilts against a non-Division I team coming ton town with Franciscan on the horizon on Wednesday.
• Saint Francis is 11-0 in these contests and are averaging 105.9 points per game. The Red Flash is also allowing 62.2 points per game in these contests.
• Three times in the 11 previous meetings have the Red Flash under Krimmel not scored 100 points, including its last game against a non-Division I when the team defeated Saint Vincent 88-58 on December 8, 2022. Franciscan held the Frankies to 96 points in the 2017 and 2018 iterations.
• Saint Francis is 337-314-2 against all the teams in the state of Pennsylvania. The Red Flash is 86-239 against NCAA Division I teams and 251-75-2 against non-NCAA Division I teams.
• For the second-straight season, the squad will play four fellow Keystone state teams this season. Along with Penn State, Saint Francis will host Pitt Greensburg (November 21) and Robert Morris (December 20), while also traveling to Lehigh (November 29).
• Krimmel is 22-23 against the state of Pennsylvania.
• Saint Francis has played its most games against teams from the western part of the state in program history. The Red Flash have tangled with Robert Morris the most in the state with 91 meetings. Duquesne has been on the squad 75 times, Saint Vincent 65 times, Westminster 43 times, Geneva 39 times and Pittsburgh 30 times.
AN SFU WIN WOULD
• Be the squad's first win of the season
• Be the squad's third-straight win in the home opener
• Improve to 9-3 under head coach
Rob Krimmel in the first game of the year at DeGol Arena
• Be the team's first win of the season
• Improve to 12-0 against non-Division I teams under Krimmel
• Be Krimmel's 148th career victory
LAST TIME OUT

• Prior to Rosenberger's outburst, sophomores

• In the game against Penn State, the Frankies had four players grab at least five boards to finish the game with the same amount of rebounds as the Nittany Lions.
• Prior to the game in State College, freshmen
Aidan Harris (five rebounds vs. UCLA) and
Eli Wilborn (five rebounds vs. Santa Clara along with Liberis (five rebounds vs. San Francisco) were the only players to coral more than five rebounds against an opponent.
