LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University men's and women's tennis are set for a trip to Howard on Thursday, Feb. 2 for 1:45 p.m. matches before returning home for the weekend.
Men's Tennis Quick Hits
Saint Francis holds an 0-2 record in the fall with 7-0 losses at Navy and Penn State. The doubles team of
Zachary Palko and
Patrick Reese recorded the only Red Flash match victory with a 7-5 edge in No. 3 doubles against the Nittany Lions. In the 2022-23 season,
Matt Kozar leads the team with 10 singles wins, followed by
Adam Kush's nine. Kozar also leads the team in doubles victories with eight, while
Jordi Garcia recorded seven.
Scouting Howard
Thursday's 1:45 p.m. match marks Howard's first of the 2023 spring season. In the fall season, the Bison competed in the Mount St. Mary's Invitational the same weekend as Saint Francis. Howard went 6-3 in singles and 3-2 in doubles against Saint Francis during the tournament.
All-Time vs. Howard
Saint Francis owns a 3-0 record over Howard, with all matches played in 2015-17. During the stretch, the Red Flash shut the Bison out 7-0 in two matches and won the other 5-2. All-three matches were played in Washington, D.C.
Women's Tennis Quick Hits
The Red Flash enter the stretch of four matches in four days with a 1-2 record after a 5-2 win over Binghamton in the fall season accounting for their only victory. In a 6-1 loss to start the spring season against Navy,
Valeria Vinces recorded the only Saint Francis match win with a 6-0, 3-6, 6-3 win in No. 4 singles. In the 2022-23 season,
Kelly Dowuona and
Bente Vandeputte lead Saint Francis with eight singles wins each. Dowuona also leads the team with nine doubles wins, followed by
Anoek Pruijmboom's eight.
Scouting Howard
Thursday's 1:45 p.m. match marks the first for Howard of the 2023 spring season. In the fall season, the Bison competed in the Mount St. Mary's Invitational and competed against Saint Francis. Howard defeated Saint Francis in all-eight singles and went 3-1 in doubles matches during the weekend.
