Redshirt junior
Josh Cohen (Lincroft, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy), a member of the Saint Francis men's basketball team, has been named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Player of the Week for the week of February 20-26. It is the fifth time this season Cohen has earned the top billing for the week and becomes just the 12th player in NEC history to earn the award five or more times in a single season.
Â
In addition, Cohen and junior
Maxwell Land (Cincinnati, Ohio/Archbishop Moeller) have been named NEC Prime Performers for the week.
Â
Cohen averaged 30.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 blocks per game and helped the Red Flash clinch its first NEC Tournament home game since 2019-20 after registering an NEC career-high 31 points in an 82-72 win against FDU on Thursday. The redshirt junior shot 11-for-12 from the floor and 9-for-13 from the free throw line, while adding four assists, two blocks and one steal against the Knights. He registered 19 of his 31 points in the second half. Cohen backed up that performance with 29 points and an NEC career-high tying 12 rebounds against Wagner on Saturday. Cohen registered double figures in all 16 league games this year including 10 20-point games and four games with at least 25 points. In addition, he registered three double-doubles in NEC play in his last six games.
Â
Cohen was also named the NEC Player of the Week for the weeks of November 21-27, December 5-12, January 2-8, February 6-12 and November 22-28, 2021, last season. It marks the 12th time in NEC history a player has been named the top player of the week at least five times in one season. CCSU's Tyler Kohl holds the single-season mark with six weekly honors, while Cohen and 11 other players have earned the recognition five times for the second most in NEC history.
With his sixth NEC Player of the Week award in his career, he joins Keith Braxton as the only two players in team history to earn at least six weekly recognitions. Braxton had nine in his career.
Â
Land averaged 15.0 points per game and helped power the Red Flash into a home NEC Quarterfinal game with an NEC career-high 24 points against FDU. The junior shot 8-for-12 from the floor, 4 of 6 from 3-point land and 4 of 4 from the free throw line. He also added five rebounds and two assists. Land added six points against Wagner and registered double figures in 13 of the 16 NEC games this season, including seven of the eight games at DeGol Arena. He shot 52.6 percent (10-for-19) from the floor on the week, 54.5 percent (6-for-11) from behind the arc and 100 percent (4 of 4) from the free throw line.
The Red Flash has had a player earn a major award in 12 of the 16 weeks of the season. Along with Cohen's five Player of the Week awards, freshmanÂ
Landon Moore (Bloomington, Ill./Western Reserve Academy) became one of six players in NEC history to take home the NEC Rookie of the Week award seven times (November 7-12 and November 13-19, December 12-18, December 19-25, December 26-January 1, January 2-8, January 9-16). FreshmanÂ
Cam Gregory (Accokeek, Md./The Steward School [Va.]) was the top rookie for the week of November 28-December 4.

Maxwell Land (Cincinnati, Ohio/Archbishop Moeller) has five recognitions and juniorÂ
