Men’s Volleyball Returns to NEC Action at D’Youville and Daemen

 WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Saint Francis University men's volleyball will be on the road this weekend as the team returns to conference action at D'Youville on Friday, March 24 at 5:00 p.m. and Daemen on Saturday, March 25 at 4:00 p.m.

THE WORD ON THE SAINTS  
D'Youville comes into Friday's matchup 7-8 overall and 0-6 in the NEC. The Saints have won its last three games with two coming against American International and most recently, Elmira over four sets. Kacper Taudul currently leads D'Youville in kills and digs this season with 175 and 82, respectively. Randy Adorno stands on top as the setter for the Saints by averaging 9.21 assists per set.
 
LAST TIME WE MET THE SAINTS
The last time the Red Flash and Saints met was in 2007 when Saint Francis came away with a straight set victory. Saint Francis leads in the overall series against D'Youville at 7-2.
 
THE WORD ON THE WILDCATS
Daemen comes into the weekend atop the NEC at 12-3 overall and 6-0 in conference. The wildcats most recently faced two national ranked opponents in No. 7 Pepperdine and No. 12 CSUN. The team lost in straight sets to Pepperdine, but defeated CSUN over a five-set thriller.
 
As a team, Daemen leads the NEC in its hitting percentage with a .284. Sean Califf currently leads the Wildcats as the setter with 445 assists on the season and adding 91 digs for the team. In addition, Zach Schneider leads as a hitter with 183 kills, while Henry Moffitt stands out defensively with 39.0 blocks.
 
LAST TIME WE MET THE WILDCATS
The Red Flash and Wildcats have only met twice in history with both meetings taking place in Loretto, Pa. and both games coming in favor of the Red Flash. In the two teams' most recent meeting in 2022, Saint Francis defeated Daemen in four sets.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Most recently, the Red Flash took a straight set loss to Penn State in State College, Pa. Prior to competing against the Nittany Lions, Saint Francis took on Queens and NJIT in Charlotte, N.C. where the Red Flash defeated the Royals in Highlanders over four sets.
 
Ryan Parker and Brandon Dunz both earned a spot on the NEC Prime Performer list after their three-game week performances. Parker led the Red Flash as a setter by collecting 94 assists over 11 sets played. Dunz led the way defensively for the Red Flash this week by notching 16.0 total blocks over the three games.
 
UP NEXT
Following this weekend, the Red Flash will compete in its final road matches of the regular season by taking on Sacred Heart Friday, March 31 at 7:00 p.m. and Merrimack on Saturday, April 1 at 6:00 p.m.
