Men’s and Women’s Tennis Visit Duquesne, Host Mount St. Mary’s

LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University men's and women's tennis prepare for a trip to Duquesne on Saturday, March 25 at 4 p.m. and host Mount St. Mary's on Monday, March 27 at 11 a.m. Men's tennis will host its senior day on Monday and honor Christian Banti, Jordi Garcia and Adam Kush.
 
Men's Tennis Quick Hits
Kush leads the team with five singles victories during dual matches and has 14 wins overall. He is 2-5 in the No. 1 singles spot and 3-3 in the No. 3 spot. He also leads the team with five doubles wins in dual matches, one ahead of Zachary Palko and Gregory Troyan.
 
Scouting Duquesne
Duquesne enters the weekend with a 6-4 overall record and is 1-0 in Atlantic 10 Conference play. The Dukes are led by Kaipo Marshall's 6-2 record in the No. 1 singles spot. David Georgadze and Tamirian Teberikov combine for a team-best 7-2 doubles record, all in the No. 1 match.
 
All-Time vs. Duquesne
Duquesne holds a 5-1 advantage over Saint Francis since the first meeting in 2012. Saint Francis' only victory was 4-3 in 2017 and Duquesne won three straight matches since then.
 
Scouting Mount St. Mary's
Mount St. Mary's holds a 2-8 overall record and is 0-1 so far in its first season in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The Mountaineers will face Niagara on Sunday ahead of Monday's match against Saint Francis. Filippos Zachiotis leads the team with four singles wins and is 2-0 in the No. 1 match. Jarrett Karnibad and Zachiotis lead the team with a 7-1 doubles record.
 
All-Time vs. Mount St. Mary's
Saint Francis holds a 10-7 all-time advantage over Mount St. Mary's since the first match in 2008. The Red Flash put up a matchup-long seven-match winning streak between 2014-18. Mount St. Mary's won the last two matches 4-0 in 2021 and 2022.
 
Women's Tennis Quick Hits
Bente Vandeputte leads the team with a 12-3 dual match singles record, with a 6-1 record in the No. 1 match. She is a two-time NEC Player of the Week.  Valeria Vinces follows with a 9-3 singles record, with a 6-2 mark in the No. 4 match. Doubles is led by Anoek Pruijmboom's 7-7 record and she is one of six players with over four doubles victories.
 
Scouting Duquesne
Duquesne holds a 6-5 overall record and is 1-0 in A-10 play and will face George Washington on Friday ahead of Saturday's match against the Red Flash. Jasa Roka holds a perfect 9-0 record in singles, with four wins in the No. 5 match and five in the No. 6 match. Daniela Latoni has the most doubles wins with seven, all in the No. 1 spot.
 
All-Time vs. Duquesne
Duquesne holds a 7-0 all-time record over Saint Francis since the first match in 2012. The Red Flash have never won more than two matches against the Dukes and Duquesne has three shutout victories. In last season's meeting, Duquesne won 5-2.
 
Scouting Mount St. Mary's
Mount St. Mary's holds a 2-5 overall record and is 0-1 in its first season in the MAAC. Like the men's team, the Mountaineers will face Niagara on Sunday ahead of Monday's match at Saint Francis. Victoria Papadopoulou leads the team with a 5-2 record in the No. 1 singles match and is 4-3 in doubles with teammate Shirley Liang.
 
All-Time vs. Mount St. Mary's
Saint Francis holds a 9-8 all-time advantage over Mount St. Mary's since the first meeting in 2007. The Mountaineers started the series with five wins in a row before the Red Flash responded with seven in a row. Mount St. Mary's won the last meeting 4-1 last season.
