Men’s Volleyball Set for Home Rematch against St. Francis Brooklyn and LIU

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Saint Francis University men's volleyball will return home this weekend to take on St. Francis Brooklyn on Friday, April 7 at 6:00 p.m. and LIU on Saturday, April 8 at 4:00 p.m.
 
>> Both games can be followed live on NEC Front Row and with live stats.  
 
>> A win over LIU on Saturday would move the Red Flash up to second place in the NEC.
 
THE WORD ON THE TERRIERS
St. Francis Brooklyn currently stands at fourth in the NEC with a 9-12 overall record and 4-6 in conference. Most recently, the Terriers dropped two five-set thrilling matchups to D'Youville and Daemen.
 
Patrick Rogers leads the NEC in kills this season with 246 over 63 sets played. Rogers also leads the team in service aces with 20 on the season. Canyon Tuman and Nicola Iannelli stand atop the Terriers on the defensive end. Tuman with 40.0 blocks and Iannelli with 149 digs. In addition, the leading setter for St. Francis Brooklyn is Matt Mongin, who leads the team with 496 assists on the season.
 
LAST TIME WE MET THE TERRIERS
The Red Flash are 3-1 against St. Francis Brooklyn overall. Most recently, the Terriers and Red Flash met earlier this season in Loretto, Pa. when St. Francis Brooklyn defeated Saint Francis in straight sets.
 
THE WORD ON THE SHARKS
LIU comes just in front of the Red Flash at second in the NEC with a 14-9 overall record and 8-2 in the conference. Most recently, the Sharks took a five-set loss to Daemen, followed by a four-set win over D'Youville.
 
Luke Chandler was most recently named the First Point NEC Player of the Week after notching 39 kills, 14 digs and eight blocks in the team's matches against Daemen and D'Youville. Kasey Clouet and Arthur Sueur currently lead the NEC with 69 and 66 total blocks on the season, respectively.
 
LIU will face Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday, April 7 at 5:00 p.m. before coming to Loretto, Pa.
 
LAST TIME WE MET THE SHARKS
The last time Saint Francis and LIU met was earlier this season in Brooklyn. The Sharks defeated the Red Flash in a five-set thriller. This season's win was the first time LIU defeated Saint Francis as this is only the second season of LIU competing in men's volleyball. Last season, the Red Flash defeated the Sharks in straight sets in back-to-back matches.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Saint Francis heads into this weekend 11-11 overall and 8-2 in conference, coming in at third place in the NEC. The Red Flash have won its last four games with its most recent wins coming on the road against Sacred Heart in straight sets and Merrimack over four sets.
 
Blake Liprando and Nathan Zini led the team to earn NEC Prime Performer recognition this past week. Lirpando posted 17 kills, four assists, three service aces, 10 digs and 2.0 total blocks to give the Red Flash 21.0 points last weekend. Zini led the Red Flash with 15 kills and added one service and three digs to give the Red Flash 16.0 points in the team's victory over Merrimack last Saturday.
 
Ryan Parker continues to lead the NEC in service aces with 29 on the season.
 
UP NEXT
Saint Francis will conclude the regular season next week with a game against D'Youville on Friday, April 14 at 6:00 p.m. Followed by a matchup against Daemen on Saturday, April 15 at 4:00 p.m.
