>> The Saint Francis University outdoor track and field teams are set to compete at the IC4A/ECAC Championships in Fairfax, Virginia at George Mason Stadium Friday, May 12 – Sunday, May 14.
>> The hammer throw is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The rest of the field events will begin Saturday at 10:00 a.m. and the track events at 2:50 p.m.
>> Saint Francis will send 12 women and 14 men to compete in 16 events this weekend.
>> Doors are open to spectators all weekend. The ECAC asks everyone attending to adhere to their policies to ensure a safe environment for all athletes competing.
The Red Flash women defended their Northeast Conference title for the third year in a row with 147 points. CCSU came in second with 137 points and in third, the host, Merrimack with 118 points. The women had four gold medal winners.
The men came in third with 135 points, the team's best finish since they won the championship in 2019. CCSU came in second with 141 points and Wagner won the men's title with 166 points. The men had three individual event winners and one victorious relay team.
Madeline Murphy was named the championship's Most Valuable Performer and Most Outstanding Field Performer in the Jumps after winning both the long and triple jumps as well as breaking her own school records in both events. She also broke the NEC's 17-year-old triple jump record. The Cresson, Pa. native was the top scorer for the Red Flash women with 20 points.
Julian Saunders was named the championship's Most Outstanding Track Performer in the Sprints after winning the 100m dash, placing second in the 200m dash and being a part of the victorious 4x100m relay team. He also broke the Saint Francis school record in the 100m dash (10.47). Saunders racked up 21.25 points for the Red Flash men to be the top scorer.
FLASH AT IC4A/ECAC CHAMPIONSHIPS HISTORY
Last season at the IC4A/ECAC Championships the men placed eighth with 33.33 points and the women finished 17th with 27 points.
Ardonntrell Williams took the event victory in the 110m hurdles, running a 14.04.
Nickolas Hyde took the bronze in the shot put with a mark of 17.22m. Murphy placed fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 12.25m.
