Jacksonville, Fla. – Saint Francis University outdoor track and field's
Madeline Murphy competed in the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round in University of North Florida's Hodges Stadium Saturday evening.

Murphy finished 39th in the triple jump with a mark of 12.28m. The Cresson, Pa. native came into the preliminary round seeded 45th, moving up six places.

In Murphy's extraordinary four-year career at Saint Francis, she broke and rebroke school records in all the horizontal jumps. She added 2.5 inches to the indoor long jump record, 15 inches to the indoor triple jump record, 12 inches to the outdoor long jump record and 30 inches to the outdoor triple jump record. Those records now stand at:

- Indoor Long Jump: 5.66m
- Outdoor Long Jump: 5.99m
- Indoor Triple Jump: 12.00m
- Outdoor Triple Jump: 12.69m

In addition to her school records, Murphy has also been a part of three Northeast Conference Championship Outdoor team titles ('21, '22, '23) and five individual NEC titles ('22 Outdoor TJ, '23 Indoor LJ, '23 Indoor TJ, '23 Outdoor LJ, '23 Outdoor TJ).

Murphy scored 78 points in five conference championships, making her the 11
th leading scorer all-time for the SFU women.

The NCAA Preliminary Round concludes the 2023 outdoor track and field season.

The 2023 Red Flash cross country season will open with the SFU Father Bede Invitational on Friday, September 1.
