LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University placed 141 student-athletes on the Northeast Conference (NEC) Spring Academic Honor Roll announced by the league on Thursday. To be eligible for the NEC Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must post at least a 3.2 grade-point average. In addition, 53 Red Flash athletes boasted a 3.75 grade-point average or better to be named to the NEC Spring Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.
Saint Francis had 71.9 percent of student-athletes competing in the spring named to the NEC Academic Honor Roll. Men's and women's tennis each had all 11 of their players qualify for the list, while women's outdoor track and field had 88.1 percent (37 of 42), men's volleyball had 85.1 percent (23 of 27), softball had 78.9 percent (15 of 19), women's lacrosse had 78.2 percent (28 of 23) and women's golf had 72.7 percent (8 of 11) all registered above 70 percent of their rosters named to the NEC Academic Honor Roll.
Women's track and field also led the way with 45.0 percent (19 of 42) of its roster being named to the NEC Commissioner's Honor Roll. Men's tennis was also above 50 percent with six of its 11 players reaching a 3.75 grade point average.
In addition, Saint Francis had three players named NEC Scholar-Athletes for their sports.
Autumn McHenry (Branford, Conn.) was selected as the NEC Co-Scholar-Athlete for women's lacrosse to become the second Red Flash women's lacrosse player to earn the honor.
Rachel Marsden (Erie, Pa.) was named the NEC Co-Scholar-Athlete for softball to mark the third-straight year Saint Francis has earned the distinction in softball.
Ardonntrell Williams (Voorhees, N.J.) became the sixth different men's outdoor track and field athlete to be recognized as the NEC Scholar-Athlete for his sport.
The Loretto school now has registered 76 NEC Scholar-Athletes since the inception of the award in 2003-04 and the Red Flash has had at least one scholar-athlete every year for the last 20 years. The three scholar-athletes in the spring ties the most for one season for Saint Francis with the 2003-04 and 2006-07 spring seasons also notching three honorees. It is the 14th time the Red Flash had had at least three Scholar-Athletes in one academic year and the first time since 2017-18.
