THE WORD ON FORDHAM
The Rams opened their season with a 3-0 win on Thursday against Sacred Heart. Graduate students Kai Griese and Timo Hummrich as well as senior Florian Deletioglu scored for Fordham. Graduate student transfer goalkeeper Carter Abbott made his Fordham debut against Sacred Heart, recording four saves to register his ninth career clean sheet.
Fordham is led by head coach Carlo Acquista, who is in his fifth season with the program. Acquista guided the team to a 3-4-9 overall record last season. The Rams were picked to finish eighth in the Atlantic-10 preseason poll.
Fordham's top three-point producers from 2022 have returned, including Hummerich, Nathan Simes and Deletioglu. The Ram's also have one of the most experience rosters in the nation with 10 graduate students and five seniors.
