Swimming to Host Lock Haven for Senior Day Sunday, Face Duquesne Saturday

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>>Due to inclement weather, the meet against Lock Haven will begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

>>The Red Flash have a busy weekend, facing Lock Haven at home on Sunday at 1 p.m. and Duquesne in Pittsburgh on Saturday at 1 p.m.

>>Sunday's home meet will honor this year's seniors with a ceremony before the meet.


THE WORD ON LOCK HAVEN
The Bald Eagles hosted Penn State Altoona last weekend, falling 118-117 and moving to 2-4 in duel meets.

Top competitors for Lock Haven are Alaina Cane, Nora Craig, Sydney Houck and Emma Pequignot.

LAST TIME WE MET LOCK HAVEN
This will be the Red Flash's third time competing against Lock Haven, boasting a 2-0 record against the Division II program.

Saint Francis hosted the last meeting of these teams back in 2016, winning by a dominating 217-42. The Red Flash placed first in all 14 events and swept the top three in 11 events, including all three relays.

THE WORD ON DUQUESNE
Duquesne competed in a tri-meet with the University of Buffalo and Marshall in Buffalo, finishing two days of the meet before canceling the remaining day due to weather.

Top competitors for the Dukes are Madeline Marks, Orla Egan, Natalia Fryckowska, Kayla Johnson, Haley Scholer, Julia Sobun and Lexi Sundgren.

LAST TIME WE MET DUQUESNE
The Dukes are a familiar opponent, having faced them head-to-head 19 times previously with a 2-17 record.  While the Red Flash last competed against Duquesne at the Western PA Invitational last January, their last dual meet was in November of 2022, falling to the Dukes 188.5-73.5 at home.

Oksana Horova (Kraków, Poland) took first in the 100-yard breaststroke for Saint Francis's lone first place finish. Second place finishes included Aurem Pifarre (Balaguer, Spain) in the 1000-yard freestyle, Inde Patterson (Moon Township, Pa.) in the 50-yard backstroke, Horova in the 50-yard breaststroke and Sara Turner (Enola, Pa.) in the 100-yard butterfly.

LAST TIME OUT
Saint Francis kicked off 2024 competition on its annual training trip to St. Petersburg, Fla. The Red Flash won the St. Petersburg Classic Relay Meet on the women's side, winning with 144 points.

The Red Flash won each of the eight relays with 19 different swimmers helping to take the top spot.

UP NEXT
The Red Flash will head back to Pittsburgh on the 26th and 27th for the Western PA Invitational, the team's last meet before the Northeast Conference Championships. Friday's competition will start at 4 p.m. with Saturday's beginning at 10 a.m.
