Men's And Women's Tennis Set For Home Openers This Weekend

LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University men's and women's tennis prepare for their matches on Feb. 2 and Feb. 4. The women's team plays three times in that span, traveling to Penn State on Feb. 2 at 3:00 p.m. and host both Le Moyne and Bloomsburg on Feb. 4 at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. respectively in Ebensburg. The men's team has just one match on Feb. 4 against Le Moyne in Altoona at 11:00 a.m. 
 
Women's Tennis Quick Hits 
Saint Francis heads into the weekend with a 1-3 overall record and has dropped its first two matches of the spring. Diana Zuba currently leads the Red Flash with a 9-3 record in singles matches on the year. Zuba also leads the team in total doubles wins with seven. Kelly Dowuona and Sara Jankovic are the pairing with the best doubles record at 5-3 on the year. 

 
Scouting Penn State 
The Nitanny Lions are 0-3 entering the match after losses to Kentucky, Columbia and Penn. Yvonne Zuffova leads Penn State in singles wins with seven. Karly Friedland and Olivia Dorner are the team's top doubles pair so far in dual matches with a 2-1 record. 
  
All-Time vs. Penn State 
Saint Francis and Penn State met for the first time last year in a dual match that resulted in a 6-1 Nitanny Lion victory. Marie Discini picked up the lone Red Flash point in that matchup. 

  
Scouting Le Moyne 
Le Moyne enters the weekend with a 2-1 record, including a win over fellow NEC newcomer Binghamton. Le Moyne will play their fourth match of the season and first of the spring before they meet the Red Flash when they host Colgate on Feb. 2.  
  
All-Time vs. Le Moyne 
Sunday's meeting marks the first ever matchup between the Red Flash and the Dolphins. 
  
Scouting Bloomsburg 
The Huskies are 2-1 on the year, but have yet to play a match in the spring. They will play their first match of the spring on Feb. 3 against Wilkes before taking on the Red Flash. The doubles team of Andres Castellanos and Luca Lo Nardo hold a perfect 6-0 record this spring. 
  
All-Time vs. Bloomsburg 
Sunday's match will mark the second meeting between Saint Francis and Bloomsburg. The first meeting occured last season and resulted in a 7-0 Red Flash victory. Discini, Valeria Vinces, Samantha Quezada and Mallory Thomas all won their respective singles and doubles matches in that match. 
  
Men's Tennis Quick Hits 
Saint Francis enters their match against Le Moyne at 0-2 on the season. Alan Gonzalez leads the Red Flash in singles competition this year with an 8-5 overall record and a 1-1 record in dual matches, both from the No. 3 spot.  

Tyler Nguyen leads the team with a 10-2 doubles record. Kevin Kruzel has 10 wins in doubles action as well, sitting at 10-4 on the year. The pairing of Nguyen and Kruzel are a perfect 6-0 on the season but have yet to be paired up this spring. 

Scouting Le Moyne 
The Dolphins enter the weekend at 2-2 on the year and 0-1 in the NEC. Le Moyne's NEC loss came at the hands of fellow conference newcomers in Binghamton. Le Moyne will play their first match of the spring on Feb. 2 before matching up with the Red Flash on Feb. 4.

Sunday's meeting will be the first ever matchup between Saint Francis and Le Moyne

Next 
Saint Francis men's and women's tennis both return to action on Feb. 9. The women's team heads to Bucknell, while the men's team heads to the Steel City to play Carnegie Mellon.
