LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University men's and women's tennis will both host Merrimack this weekend in their first home matches since Feb. 11. Both teams start at 11:00 a.m., the men play at Gorilla House Gym in Altoona and the women play at Ebensburg Tennis Center in Ebensburg.
Women's Tennis Quick Hits
Saint Francis heads into the weekend with a 8-10 record on the year and a 3-1 record in the NEC. Diana Zuba currently leads the Red Flash and is tied for lead in the Northeast Conference in singles wins with a 18-6 record on the year. Zuba is 11-3 from the No. 1 position in dual matches this season and has won seven of her last eight singles contests.
Nagisa Miyake and Kelly Dowuona each have 12 wins on the season as well.
Dowuona leads the team in doubles wins on the season with a 15-10 record. Sara Jankovic and Reagen Mangan are right behind her with a 12 and 11 doubles wins respectively.
Scouting Merrimack
The Warriors are 1-5 entering the match and 0-3 in the NEC.
Merrimack picked up their first win of the season back on Feb. 25 in a 6-1 victory over Saint Anselm.
The Warriors nearly knocked off Binghamton back on Feb. 4, losing 4-3.
All-Time vs. Merrimack
Saint Francis and Merrimack have never met before. The Red Flash are 1-0 against first time NEC opponents this season, defeating Le Moyne 7-0 back on Feb. 4.
Men's Tennis Quick Hits
Saint Francis enters their matches this week at 7-5 on the season and are a perfect 3-0 in the NEC so far. Alan Gonzalez leads the Red Flash in singles competition this year with a 16-6 record and has won seven of his last eight singles matches.
Tyler Nguyen holds the next best singles record for Saint Francis at 11-7.
Kevin Kruzel and Nguyen are tied for the team lead in doubles wins with 14 each.
Scouting Merrimack
The Warriors are 7-10 overall and 2-3 in the NEC entering their matchup with the Red Flash.
Merrimack has beaten Stonehill and Wagner in conference play so far this season, beating them both 7-0.
All-Time vs. Merrimack
Saturday will mark the first time that Saint Francis and Merrimack have ever met. Saint Francis beat the other two NEC teams they had never played before this season in Le Moyne and Stonehill.
