Blain Named NEC Men's Volleyball Scholar Athlete of the Year

LORETTO, Pa. - Saint Francis men's volleyball's Peyton Blain has been named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Men's Volleyball Spring Scholar Athlete, the conference announced Monday.

In the second year of the award's existence, Blain is the first Red Flash men's volleyball player to be selected for the honor. The Harrisburg, Pa. native also earned NEC Male Team-Student Athlete of the Year on June 5. Blain accumulated a 3.73 and 3.94 GPA over the two semesters of the 2023-24 school year. The Saint Francis graduate earned himself a spot on the Dean's List (3.5+ GPA) for both terms.

His GPA helped the Saint Francis graduate make it onto this year's NEC Spring Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll for gaining a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better. He also was named to the conference's Academic Honor Roll for having a 3.20 or better GPA.

As a member of the Saint Francis Student-Athlete Athletic Committee, Blain was the vice president of the club during his senior year. As the men's volleyball captain, the libero set a school record for the most digs by a player in a single season with 318. That number was first across Division-I and II men's volleyball and he was fourth in digs per set. For his play, he earned NEC Defensive Player of the Year and second team All-NEC. Blain helped lead the team to an overall record of 21-9 and its second straight NEC Championship appearance.

Blain graduated from Saint Francis during the spring with a degree in accounting and a cumulative GPA of 3.94.
