Morgantown, W.Va.- Saint Francis men's soccer dropped their first match of the season on Monday night against No. 3 West Virginia in a 4-0 defeat. The defeat marked the first for the Red Flash since Nov. 6, 2022.Â

TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
Simon Carlson opened the scoring in the eighth minute of play to put the Mountaineers ahead.Â
Sergio Ors Navarro doubled the West Virginia lead seven minutes later.Â
The Mountaineers added two more goals in the final 12 minutes of the match.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
West Virginia took command of the game quickly with two goals in the opening 15 minutes.Â
In the 40th minute, Tom Schellbach prevented the Mountaineers from putting a third goal on the board with a stellar tackle inside the box.Â
Coming out of the half, the tale of the game stayed consistent as West Virginia controlled the play.Â
In the 47th minute, Becker made a fantastic save on a point-blank West Virginia chance, doing a split in the process of making the save.Â
Becker made another great save just two minutes later. In the 53rd minute, Becker made yet a third save on a long shot from the Mountaineers.Â
Just minutes later, the Red Flash had a corner that resulted in an Adams shot from outside the 18-yard box that was blocked.Â
Becker would make two more saves throughout the second half.Â
In the 82nd minute, Ty Mikula put a decent lob pass through for Fabian Wagner, but it was just a bit too long.Â
FLASH NUGGETS
The match marked the end of both Mads Kaiser's and Saint Francis' 16 match unbeaten run. The loss marks the first of Kaiser's career as a head coach.Â
Becker set a career high mark for saves in a game with five against the Mountaineers.Â
For the second consecutive match, all of Becker's saves came in the second half of the match.Â
