LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University men's basketball head coach
Rob Krimmel has announced that
John McKeown has joined the coaching staff as a graduate assistant.
"John has already proven himself to be a valuable member of the staff," said Krimmel. "He has a tremendous work ethic and understanding of how a Division I basketball program operates. John's time with Coach Archie Miller at URI has provided him with a great foundation to begin his career in coaching. I am excited to see him impact our program as he continues to grow in the profession."
McKeown comes to Saint Francis after graduating from the University of Rhode Island with a bachelor's degree in sports media and communications in May. He served as a student manager for the Rhody men's basketball team all four years and the head student manager during his senior campaign. He was responsible for all gear and equipment and assisted with team operations. McKeown was one of 50 managers to work at the 2023 NCAA Basketball Academy in Memphis.
"I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Red Flash community," said McKeown. "I look forward to working with Coach Krimmel, the coaching staff, and the players to help us reach our goals this season."
During the 3x3 USA Basketball National Training Camp in April in Springfield, Mass., McKeown was part of the training camp support staff to help the 3x3 Men's and Women's National Team prepare for the 2024 Summer Olympics and the FIBA 3x3 Series.
McKeown also gained experience at the Brown Men's Basketball Camp in the summer of 2023. He was also a student equipment manager with the Rhode Island football team in his first three years.
McKeown was a member of the Grow The Game Manager Connection Program for four years. Through this program, he attended the Director of Basketball Operations Bootcamp and GA pathway and participated in the NABC Final Four Convention in 2023 and 2024.
