Loretto, Pa. - Saint Francis men's soccer picked up all three points in their conference opener Sunday afternoon with a 2-0 win over Stonehill.

TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
An excellent slide tackle from Rodrigo Mendes rolled the ball right to the feet of De Nittis, who passed to Schelb. Schelb would do the rest of the work and put Saint Francis ahead in the 29th minute.
Schelb sealed the deal with a goal at the end of an excellent counter attack started by a Kierzkowski tackle and pass.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Neither side generated much early on, but the first real chance came in the 14th minute for Stonehill. Becker made an excellent kick save on a short range chance to keep the match level.
The Red Flash generated a chance of their own on the ensuing counter attack. Ended in a Fabian Wagner shot that sailed wide to the right.
The next Saint Francis opportunity came in the 20th minute from a Maximus Rigby free kick. He hit a ball that found the head of Torren Aikens, who's header found the foot of Schelb. Schelb hooked it left and off frame.
Jonah Wolf nearly put the Red Flash in front with a header that bounced off the turf and just over the crossbar. Schelb had another go at goal in the 24th minute but missed just high.
Schelb would break the scoreless deadlock just five minutes later after an excellent run. Just a few minutes after the goal, Rigby and Wagner would each have a chance to double the lead, but neither could convert their chance.
Coming out of the half, the Red Flash nearly scored another. A crafty run of play from Mikey Walenchok and De Nittis nearly resulted in a Walnechok goal, but his shot was saved.
Becker made a big time save in the 52nd minute on a shot that was fired from right in front of the net.
In the 60th minute, Tom Schellbach stepped in as the last line of defense in the box and cleared away what would have been a certain Stonehill goal.
Becker made a diving save two minutes later to keep Saint Francis in front.
Mendes nearly put the Red Flash up two in the 64th minute but skied his shot over the crossbar.
In the 76th minute, Parker Brennan fired a shot at goal, but it was saved.
The Red Flash would see out the remainder of the match and secure their first home win of the campaign.
