Sophomore midfielder Sofia Marciano (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Del Viso Day School) of the Saint Francis field hockey team received her second NEC Offensive Player of the Week award and her fifth NEC Prime Performer honor this season.
This follows another outstanding weekend performance by the underclassmen, who achieved their third hat trick of the season against New Haven on Friday. Outside of this weekend, the Red Flash midfielder has recorded 19 goals on the year, placing her firmly in eighth in the nation for goals per game.
Outside the national rankings, Marciano has had a season for the record books, becoming the second player in program history with 40-plus points in a season. Additionally, she moves into eighth place in career points (47), tied for sixth in career goals (22), and is the second player in team history with three games of at least three goals.
Alongside Marciano, junior goalkeeper Mia DiGenova, and sophomore midfielder Cruz Cánepa were named NEC Prime Performers for their efforts on the field last weekend.
Against the Chargers, DiGenova achieved her 10th shutout of the season and tied Samantha Zeiders' record for most goalkeeper wins in a single season with 14, set in 2014. Cánepa also made a significant contribution by recording three assists and breaking the single-season program record with 17 assists, now ranking third in program history with 24 career assists.
Saint Francis concludes the 2025 regular season this weekend as they heads to Fairfield, which has first-place implications. The game is scheduled for Friday, October 31st, at 3 pm.
