Women's Volleyball | 11/22/2025 8:54:00 PM

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Three Red Flash hit double digits equaling 42 kills.
>> Korrin Burns had a double double.
>> Saint Francis fell to LIU (25-22, 26-24, 25-21, 25-20).

TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
To start the second set, the Red Flash went on a 4-0 surge which was dominantly Kori McClure. McClure had the first three kills of the game which were all set up by Alexandra Sappia. LIU was forced to call a timeout in hopes of stopping the middle blocker, but they were not expecting Burns to slam one down from the back row. The Red Flash were not content with their 6-3 lead, so they added four more points to give some breathing room. Both kills were from the four-time NEC Rookie of the Week, Gwen Atkins. LIU made two crucial attacking errors that benefited Saint Francis and once again forced the Sharks into a timeout. However, LIU kept blocking and throwing down swings to put them ahead. They took the set and did not look back, winning the next two sets to claim the NEC Championship 3-1.

FLASH MOMENTS
The Red Flash showed exactly why they are in the NEC Championship off of an early start from the NEC Player of the Year. Sappia set up a beautiful pass right to Burns to slam right off the liberos hands. After some back and forth points, Saint Francis continued its terror with a 3-0 run. Sappia set up Gonzalez Jaramillo for a kill and then the lefty Atkins registered an ace. Burns and Sappia switched spots for a play and Burns set up Sappia for a kill to add to her stat line.

With Saint Francis once again down by one point in the first set, the Red Flash went on another quick 3-0 run. Gonzalez Jaramillo had another kill and then Chandler Alter collected herself two back-to-back aces to put Saint Francis up 17-15. After an attacking error on LIU, Atkins set Burns up for a kill to give the Red Flash game point and force the Sharks to call a timeout. On the last point, Burns collected a dig for Sappia to set up Gonzalez Jaramillo for a kill and the set win.

The first half of the third set Saint Francis and LIU went point for point until the Red Flash went on a 7-2 run. Atkins collected the first kill of the run and Gonzalez Jaramillo swung from the left side laying the ball down for a kill. Atkins had another kill just before Alyssa Irwin had two kills in a row.

Late in the fourth set, with LIU up 21-13, Saint Francis went on a 5-1 run. Sappia and Irwin had a huge duo block that shut down the Sharks at the net. Irwin had a kill down the middle from the hands of Sappia. McClure and Irwin both had a kill a piece to end out the run.
