Loretto, Pa. – Saint Francis Track & Field Head Coach Douglas Hoover has announced the 2025-26 indoor and outdoor schedule. The indoor slate includes six regular season meets and the outdoor campaign will feature six meets.
The Red Flash will open the indoor campaign at the Bison Opener hosted by Bucknell University on Dec. 6. At last year's event, there were 14 top-5 finishes, including two first place finishes. Olivia Renk took first in the women's 200m (25.60) and Julian Saunders took the men's 200m (22.12). The meet will be held at Gerhard Fieldhouse.
Saint Francis will travel to the Ocean Breeze Park Track & Field Athletic Complex for the Wagner College Seahawk Shootout on Dec. 12. This is the second year in a row that the Red Flash will attend this meet. Last year, Saint Francis had 16 top-10 finishes including first place in weight throw by Joseph Sevison (16.87m).
After the calendar flips to 2026, the Red Flash will travel to Penn State for the fifth year in a row to compete in the Nittany Lion Challenge on Jan. 17. There were 12 top-10 finishes during the 2025 meet.
The squads will be back at Bucknell's Gerhard Fieldhouse for the Gulden Invitational on Jan. 24. Since 2009-10, Saint Francis has competed at the Gulden Invitational every year outside of 2020-21 when the indoor season was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. 21 athletes recorded top-10 finishes and seven claimed top-5 performances at the meet last year.
Saint Francis will head to the Watson and Tressel Training Site for the YSU Collegiate Mid Major Invitational for the first time since 2013 on Jan. 30-31.
The Red Flash returns to the VMI Winter Relays to finish off their regular indoor season hosted by Virginia Military Institute on Feb. 6-7 for the second year in a row. The teams competed at the Relays during 2019-20, 2021-22, 2022-23, and 2024-25. The venue is the Corps Physical Training Facility. Last year, the Red Flash had 33 top-8 finishes including three event victories: Anna Quackenbush (5000-meter, 17:46.48), the relay team with a time of 12:31.00 (Mariclare Anderson, Naomi Hillen, Renk, and Nina Connors), and Tyler Craft (triple jump, 14.06m).
Saint Francis will make a return to Ocean Breeze Park Track & Field Athletic Complex for the NEC Championships on Feb. 15-16. In 2025, the women placed third while the men took sixth. Collectively, the Red Flash had eight podium finishes and one event victory. Clark Gulycz became the NEC Men's Indoor Shot Put Champion with a mark of 16.75m.
If any Saint Francis athletes qualified, the NCAA Division I National Championships would be hosted by the University of Arkansas at the Randal Tyson Center in Fayetteville, Ark. March 13-14.
The outdoor season would kick off with the Charlotte 49er at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte on March 20-21. 2025 will be the first time the Red Flash will compete at this meet.
The following week will be the Jim Taylor Invitational hosted by Susquehanna University at Nicholas A. Lopardo Stadium March 27-28. They competed last year, taking home 12 first place finishes. Renk (100m and 200m), Carly Sedun (hammer throw), Rylee Nicklas (hammer throw and shot put), Morgan McNaughton (1500m), Gabriella del Pielago (400m dash), Brooke Long (triple jump), Saunders (100m and 200m dash), 4x100 relay team (Dylan Sutton, Jayden Foster, Eaghan Kieff, and Saunders), Gulycz (shot put), and Craft (triple jump).
The Red Flash will return to the York College Twilight Meet hosted by York College at Graham Field at Holmes Stadium April 1. The last time they competed was during the 2022-23 season where they had 24 top-10 finishes and took home three first places. Nickolas Hyde (shot put), John Flynn Jr. (3000m steeplechase), and 4x800 meter relay (Anderson, Baylee Carpenter, Emma Fleck, and Monica Gregg).
Next will be a return to Bucknell for the Bison Outdoor Classic at Christy Mathewson Memorial Stadium April 11-12. Saint Francis finished with eight top-8 performances overall.
A week later Saint Francis heads to the Coach Pollard Invitational hosted by Maravian University on Apr. 17-18. This will be the first time that the Red Flash partakes in this meet.
The final outdoor regular season outing will be the Red Flash Open at the Father Bede Track on April 25. It is the lone home meet that track & field has where seniors are recognized prior to the events starting. At the 2025 meet, the teams racked up seven event victories and 22 top-3 finishes.
Postseason competition will begin when the Red Flash travels to the NEC Championships on May 2-3, location to be determined. The women took fourth and the men taking fifth. Saunders took two gold medals in the 100m and 200m dash, Sedun collected her second-straight conference title (hammer throw), and Gulycz was the shot-put champion.
If any athletes qualify, the NCAA DI East Preliminaries will be held in Lexington, Ky. at the University of Kentucky's UK Track & Field Complex May 27-30. Any athletes that make it past the preliminaries will compete in the NCAA Division I National Championships held at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field June 10-13.
