Redshirt senior Skylar Wicks, a member of the Saint Francis men's basketball team, was named an NEC Prime Performer for the week of December 8-14. It is fifth time in five weeks he has earned the distinction.
Wicks posted 22 points and six rebounds against American Conference opponent on Sunday. He posted 19 of his 22 points in the second half, shooting 7-for-12 from the floor, 4 of 5 from behind the arc and 1 of 1 from the free throw line. In the final 20 minutes, Wicks had 11 points in a 16-5 run including an 8-0 run in a 59-second span to end the run and then added a 6-0 run later in the half. Wicks shot 8-for-17 from the floor, 5 of 8 from behind the arc and 1 of 1 from the free throw line. It was his fourth 20-point game of the season and he has registered at least five rebounds in eight of the nine games he has played.Â
Wicks leads the NEC in defensive rebounds (6.44) and ranks second in minutes per game (34.00), second in scoring (18.8 ppg.), third in rebounding (7.8 rpg.), third in free throw percentage (83.3), fourth in 3-pointers per game (2.44), eighth in 3-point field goal percentage (40.0), ninth in assists per game (2.78), and 10th in steals per game (1.33).
Freshman Paris Papadatos was named the NEC Rookie of the Week for the week of December 1-7 after scoring 19 points against Penn State Shenango on December 3 and 15 points at Radford on December 7.
Along with Wicks, redshirt senior Zion Russell is the only other player on the team to earn NEC Prime Performer for his performance in the second week of the season.
Saint Francis returns to action on Wednesday at No. 18 Florida. Game time is 6:30 p.m.
