Football Announces 2025 Schedule

LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University football announced its 2025 schedule in conjunction with the Northeast Conference (NEC) on Feb. 18. The schedule features 11 games with seven conference opponents and four non-conference opponents. The Red Flash will play five home games and six away games.

The 2025 schedule is headlined by two FBS opponents to kick off the season. The Red Flash will visit Louisiana Monroe on Aug. 28 and Buffalo on Sept. 6. Saint Francis earned its first ever win over an FBS opponent in 2024 when they knocked off Kent State 23-17.

In 2024, Louisiana Monroe went 5-7 overall and 3-5 in the Sun Belt. Buffalo went 9-4 overall and 6-2 in the Mid-American Conference (MAC). The Bulls capped off their season with a 26-7 win over Liberty in the Bahamas Bowl.

Saint Francis hits the road again on Sept. 13 for their NEC opener against Central Connecticut State. The Blue Devils went 7-6 overall in 2024 and 5-1 in conference play. Central Connecticut State are the reigning NEC champions after beating Duquesne on the final day of the season to earn a share of the title and a spot in the FCS Playoffs. The Blue Devils would lose 21-17 to Rhode Island in the first round of the FCS Playoffs. The Red Flash dropped their game against Central Connecticut State 27-20 last season.

The next week, Saint Francis will host its home opener against Delaware State on Sept. 20. The Red Flash have won three consecutive games against the Hornets, including a furious comeback victory in 2024 that was fueled by a 22-point fourth quarter for Saint Francis. Delaware State went 1-11 overall and 0-5 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) in 2024.

The Red Flash are back on the road against Bucknell on Sept. 27. The Bison went 6-6 overall in 2024 and 4-2 in the Patriot League. Bucknell finished third in the Patriot League this past season. It will be the first ever meeting between Saint Francis and Bucknell.

Saint Francis has a bye week after the Bucknell game. Coming out of the bye, the Red Flash return to NEC action on Oct. 11 with a short trip out to Duquesne. The Dukes went 8-3 overall and 5-1 in the NEC last season, claiming a share of the NEC title.

The Red Flash have another bye week before kicking off a four-game home stand when they host Robert Morris on Oct. 25. The Colonials went 7-5 overall in 2024 and 4-2 in the NEC, finishing third in the conference.

The Red Flash host Wagner next on Nov. 1. The Seahawks went 4-8 overall in 2024 and 2-4 in the NEC. The last time Wagner came to Loretto, Saint Francis beat them 31-7 in the first ever nationally televised linear game in NEC history.

The next week, Saint Francis hosts Mercyhurst on Nov. 8 for the first NEC matchup between the two teams. The Lakers went 4-7 overall in 2024. None of their games counted as conference matchups. Saint Francis was defeated by Mercyhurst in a 21-20 nailbiter on the last day of the 2024 season.

The Red Flash conclude their 2025 home slate with a matchup against LIU on Nov. 15. The Sharks went 4-8 overall and 3-3 in the NEC last season, finishing fourth. Saint Francis defeated LIU 34-27 in their 2024 meeting. The Red Flash overcame a 24-17 deficit in the third quarter to earn the victory. Saint Francis tied a program record for sacks in a game with eight against the Sharks.

The 2024 regular season concludes with a road trip to Stonehill on Nov. 22. The Red Flash defense shut out the Skyhawks in their 2024 meeting, resulting in a 34-0 Saint Francis victory.

Saint Francis went 4-7 overall and 2-4 in conference play last season. The Red Flash hold a 17-10 record in conference play over the last four seasons, with seven of those 10 losses coming by seven points or less.

The 2025 schedule times are to be determined.
