Women's Track & Field

Track & Field Set To Compete At IC4A/ECAC Championships

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Saint Francis track & field will be competing in the IC4A/ECAC Championships held at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center on Saturday and Sunday.

>> The field events will kick off the events on both days starting at 10:00 a.m.

>> Twenty-five athletes (14 women, 11 men) will be competing at the meet.

LAST TIME OUT
The Red Flash last competed at the Northeast Conference Championships on February 16-17. The women's team finished third with 91 points and the men's team placed sixth with 55.5. The squads combined for nine podium finishes (6 women, 3 men) and Clark Gulycz became the NEC Men's Shot Put Champion in his freshman year.

Gulycz finished with a mark of 16.75m (54' 11"). The freshman was ahead of second place Greyson Golda (15.22m) from CCSU by 1.53m. He will be competing in this weekend's Championships.

The two other top-3 finishers were Julian Saunders and Jayden Foster. Saunders collected a silver medal in the men's 60-meter dash with a time of 6.91 while Foster took third in the long jump with a mark of 7.15m in his first Championship weekend. The freshman will be competing in the IC4A/ECAC Championships as well.

On the women's side, five athletes took home medals in their events. Brooke Long (triple jump: 11.45m), Sarah Colman (500-meter dash: 1:16.85), and Emma Fleck (800-meter dash: 2:18.45) all received silver for their performances. Olivia Renk (200-meter dash: 24.82) and Anna Quackenbush (5000-meter run: 17:32.00) claimed silver in their events. All five women will be participating this weekend. 

The women's team had their best finish at the Championships since 2007.

RED FLASH AT IC4A/ECAC CHAMPIONSHIPS HISTORY
At the 2024 IC4A/ECAC Championships, nine athletes received All-East honors for finishing in the top-8. It included a school record time in the women's distance medley relay of 11:52.09 from Mariclare Anderson, Naomi Hillen, Monica Gregg, and Rhoda Alaban-Tafon.

Any athletes that qualify for the NCAA Division-I National Championships will compete at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Va. March 14-15.
