Victoria DiRenno and
Chyler Espino, members of the Saint Francis women's lacrosse team, have been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District At-Large team.
DiRenno graduated in May with the highest grade-point average (3.83) on the mathematics team with a concentration in secondary education. She paced the team and ranked third in the NEC with 85 draw controls. She ranked fifth on the team in caused turnovers (14), adding five goals and four assists for nine points and 23 ground balls. She finished her career ranking seventh in career draw controls (117) after reaching the total in just two seasons.
Espino graduated in May with a computer science degree and a 3.78 grade point average. She ranked second on the team in draw controls (52), third in ground balls (39), and collected 13 caused turnovers. The two-time All-NEC first-team performer left Saint Francis as one of only four players in team history to rank in the top 10 in draw controls (130) and ground balls (108) and caused turnovers (49).
DiRenno and Espino join field hockey players Consu de Castro and Dolores Zavaleta, and water polo players Georgia Ellison and Caylah Olay for the Red Flash as female at-large team members.
A student-athlete must have a 3.5 GPA, be at least a sophomore, and participate in 90 percent of the events or start in 66 percent of the matches to be eligible for the CSC Academic All-District team. Each school can nominate six male and six female student-athletes in the at-large category from these sports: Women's Beach Volleyball, Women's Bowling, Women's Crew/Rowing, Men's and Women's Fencing, Field Hockey, Men's and Women's Golf, Men's and Women's Gymnastics, Men's and Women's Ice Hockey, Men's and Women's Lacrosse, Men's and Women's Rifle, Men's and Women's Skiing, Men's Volleyball, Men's and Women's Water Polo, Men's Wrestling.
