TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
Saint Francis regained its spark during the fifth set when it was 9 all. Alyssa Irwin found her swing leading the Red Flash during its 7-2 run with two kills and two blocks. Sappia set up two kill and assisted on two blocks. Korrin Burns and Paloma Gonzalez Jaramillo collected kills during the fifth set win.
FLASH MOMENTS
The Red Flash went on 7-2 run dominated by several Saint Francis blocks. Sappia and Irwin started fueling the flame with a huge duo block which led Burns to attacked the net and collect a kill. Kori McClure went on a stroll with three assisted blocks alongside two Burns and a Gwen Atkins assisted block. Burns threw in two more blocks, to extend the lead and take the first set.
Even though the Blue Devils took the second set, that did not stop the Red Flash from finding its flame again. Mid-way through the third set, Saint Francis went on an 8-1 run. Burns and McClure had two kills apiece to aid in the run, thanks to three assists from Sappia. Gwen Atkins and Gonzalez Jaramillo both registered a kill as well. Alexa Chapla gained herself a service ace as she finished off the set in Saint Francis's favor.
FLASH NUGGETS
Burns, the 2025 three-time NEC Player of the Week and current NEC Prime Performer, finished the evening with 28 kills and 10 digs. She collected her 20th double-double of her career.
McClure threw in eight kills and eight blocks to aid her team in the win.
Gonzalez Jaramillo threw down nine kills and five digs.
Gwen Atkins, the current NEC Rookie of the Week, added 11 digs, six kills and six assisted blocks.
Chandler Alter had 11 digs for Saint Francis.
Sappia finished the match with 52 assists, 11 digs, and four assisted blocks. Sappia has earned NEC Prime Performer distinction in the first four weeks of the season.
Chapla tossed in three service aces.
Nevaeh Ingram had two service aces on the evening.
