WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
The Saint Francis women's swimming team competed in a tri-meet against Howard University and Virginia Military Institute on Friday, January 16, in Lexington, Virginia. The meet served as an important late-season racing opportunity as the Red Flash continued preparations for postseason competition.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Saint Francis opened the meet with a third-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, as the A relay of Reegan Brown, Maura Rubio, Laryssa Webster, and Kathryn Tanis touched in at 1:49.63. The Red Flash continued to produce strong results in individual events, highlighted by Sara Turner, who captured first place in the 200-yard individual medley with a winning time of 2:11.50.
Turner also earned a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle, while Maura Rubio added a second-place result in the 100-yard backstroke. In the sprint events, Taylor Weth and Kathryn Tanis both raced in the 100-yard breaststroke, contributing valuable points for the Red Flash.
Saint Francis closed the meet with another top-five performance in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as the A relay finished third overall to cap off the afternoon of competition.
UP NEXT:
The Red Flash will travel to Pittsburgh next weekend to compete at the Western PA Invite, their final opportunity to race before the NEC Championships. The meet will serve as an important tune-up as Saint Francis prepares to face several programs they will also see next season as members of the Presidents' Athletic Conference.
