Ahmad Harrison, a member of the Saint Francis men's basketball team, has been named an NEC Prime Performer for the week of January 11-18. It is his first weekly honor by the league.
Harrison became the latest Red Flash player to hit a buzzer-beater with his 35-footer to propel Saint Francis past Stonehill 63-61 on Monday. The senior averaged 16.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game in the two games. Before his buzzer-beater, Harrison tied the game at 58 on a triple with 63 seconds left. He finished the game against the Skyhawks with 16 points, five rebounds, and two assists. That performance came after he had a season-high 17 points along with a career-high seven assists in a high-octane battle with CCSU on Saturday. Harrison also had 17 points against Belmont on November 24, his third-best game of the season and the second time he has registered 16 points in a win (also turned the trick against Wagner). He shot 44.8 percent from the field (13-for-29) and 42.9 percent from 3-point land (6-for-14).
The senior has posted at least eight points in all six NEC games this season with four 10-point performances, and the Red Flash is 3-2 since he became the team's starter. Harrison is averaging 13.0 points per game in league play.
Freshman
Paris Papadatos was named the NEC Rookie of the Week for the week of December 1-7 after scoring 19 points against Penn State Shenango on December 3 and 15 points at Radford on December 7. Redshirt senior
Skylar Wicks earned Prime Performer six times, and redshirt senior
Zion Russell has one to go along with Harrison's recognition this week.
Saint Francis returns to action at home against Chicago State on Friday night. Game time is 7 p.m.
