WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
The Saint Francis women's swimming team closed out its regular season at the Western PA Invitational, hosted by Carnegie Mellon University. The two-day meet served as the Red Flash's final competition before shifting full focus to the 2026 NEC Championships, marking an important step in postseason preparation.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Red Flash powered to a third-place finish at the meet. Saint Francis made an early statement with a runner-up finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as Kathryn Tanis, Taylor Weth, Katie Webster, and Reegan Brown touched in 1:37.82.
Sara Turner led the Red Flash with an impressive weekend, winning the 500-yard freestyle (5:04.37) and claiming first place in both the 200-yard butterfly (2:07.31) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:22.71).
The Red Flash showcased depth in distance events, with Taylor Weth placing third in the 500 freestyle (5:14.17) and Katie Webster adding a top-10 finish (5:20.98).
Reegan Brown earned a runner-up finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.56). Maura Rubio also added a second-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke (2:07.45), with Morgan Moniz posting a top-10 result in the 100-yard backstroke.
Relay depth remained a highlight as Saint Francis captured first in the 200-yard medley relay with Rubio, Turner, Laryssa Webster, and Brown touching in 1:48.72. The Red Flash also recorded strong efforts in the 400-yard medley relay and across sprint freestyle events.
UP NEXT:
Saint Francis now turns its full attention to the 2026 NEC Swimming & Diving Championships, which will be held February 17–20 (Tuesday through Friday) at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
This season marks a significant change in the championship timeline, as the meet will conclude on Friday rather than Saturday, creating a faster, championship-style progression of prelims and finals across four days.
The 2026 NEC Championships will also be the final time Saint Francis competes at the conference meet as a member of the Northeast Conference, adding historic significance to this postseason.
With strong relay depth, multiple event winners, and consistent scoring across strokes, the Red Flash enter NECs positioned to chase season-best times, podium finishes, and program milestones as they close out this chapter of Saint Francis swimming.
