HOW IT HAPPENED  

Starting with doubles action, program leader in all-time wins, senior Kelly Dowuona and freshman Gabriela Almanz easily defeated their Colgate opponents, winning six of the eight sets and securing the pivotal doubles point. The 81st-ranked doubles team in the nation, composed of Cunningham and Marais, answered the call, fighting off a comeback by their opponents to win the match 6-4 and claim their first victory of the spring 2026 slate.

In singles action, the Red Flash continued their momentum, winning five of their six singles matches. Sophomore Dasha Chichkina started on the first court, dueling with her opponent before pulling ahead and winning the first set 6-4, then closing the next set with a score of 6-1. Underclassman phenom Lynn continued to turn heads, claiming her team-leading 13th win in three sets after falling behind in the first set 3-6 but rebounding to win the next two sets 6-1 and 6-3.

Rounding out the meet, junior Reagen Mangan, Almanz, and Marais all won their singles matches, giving the Red Flash a commanding lead to clinch the match against the Raiders of Colgate by an overall score of 6-1.

NEXT TIME OUT 

The women's tennis team returns to action Saturday, Feb.7, as the Red Flash hosts its third match of the season against the Le Moyne Dolphins in yet another dual match with the men's team at the Gorilla House Gym in Altoona, Pa., at noon.
