HOW IT HAPPENED:
Day two of the 2026 NEC Championships brought strong individual performances and key relay points for Saint Francis at the SPIRE Institute.
In the 500-yard freestyle, Katie Webster finished 16th overall, earning team points while recording a personal-best swim.
The Red Flash made a statement in the 200-yard individual medley, where Sara Turner placed fourth overall with a personal best (2:04.84). Taylor Weth followed closely with a fifth-place finish (2:05.95), giving Saint Francis major scoring depth in the championship final.
Sprint points came from the 50-yard freestyle, as Maura Rubio placed 13th and Reegan Brown finished 14th, keeping the Red Flash competitive in the team race.
The night concluded with the 200-yard freestyle relay, where Maura Rubio, Laryssa Webster, Kathryn Tanis, and Reegan Brown combined for a fourth-place finish (1:36.37) to cap the session.
After two days of competition, Saint Francis sits in fourth place overall in the team standings.
WHAT'S NEXT:
The NEC Championships continue tomorrow with prelims beginning at 10:00 a.m. and finals set for 6:00 p.m. Saint Francis will be in action in the 100-yard butterfly, 100-yard backstroke, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 400-yard individual medley, and the 400-yard medley relay, as the Red Flash look to keep building momentum and climb the team standings.
