Helena Lynn (Bethlehem, Pa./Mother Divine Grace), a member of the Saint Francis women's tennis team, has been named the NEC Women's Rookie of the Week. This marks the first time she has received the honor.
Lynn has emerged as a rising star on the team, currently holding a record of 13-8. The freshman leads the team in wins, claiming victories against Colgate, Binghamton, and Navy, while also pushing her opponents to the limit against Penn State and Buffalo.
Another rookie turning heads is Gabriela Almanza (Orlando, Fla./Lake Nona), who was named Prime Performer for the first time this season after winning her last two matches against Eastern Michigan and Colgate in a dominant display.
Sophomore Dasha Chichkina (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock High School South) rounded out the list of this week's Prime Performers for the Red Flash after winning three of her last four singles matches in the top spot. Last year, Chichkina was no stranger to accolades, being named Prime Performer eight times.
The Red Flash women's tennis team returns to action this weekend, opening NEC play against the Le Moyne Dolphins on Saturday, Feb.7, at Gorilla House Gym in Altoona, Pa.
