WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Saint Francis softball fell in a heartbreaker to the UTSA Roadrunners, 11-9, on Sunday afternoon at Roadrunner Field in San Antonio, Texas. Sophomore Sofia Zielinski powered the offense, finishing with three hits in four at-bats and driving in three RBIs.
TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
In yet another back-and-forth contest for the Red Flash, the game-changing moment came in the bottom of the fifth inning when UTSA capitalized on the long ball, sneaking one just outside the park to take an 11-9 lead late in the game.
FLASH MOMENTS
Throughout today's contest, the Red Flash displayed their fight, beginning in the top of the first inning. Zielinski continued her streak of impressive plate appearances, opening the game with a triple down the right-field line to score junior Marianne Labelle from first base. Rookie of the Week Olivia Hood contributed with a single into center field, scoring Zielinski, before senior Annabelle Farmer cleared the bases with a double, giving Saint Francis a 3-0 lead. In the following inning, the Red Flash struck again, as sophomores Morgan Pasternak, Zielinski, and Hood all delivered singles with runners in scoring position, extending the Saint Francis lead to 8-3. The last run for Saint Francis came in the top of the fourth inning when Zielinski hit her fifth home run of the season over the right-center field wall, providing her team with a 9-3 advantage.

The Red Flash softball team returns to action next weekend as they remain in Texas for more spring break competition, participating in the San Marcos Showdown. Game one is scheduled for Friday, March 6, at 2:15 p.m. against Texas A&M at Bobcat Softball Stadium in San Marcos, Texas.
