Saint Francis Men’s Volleyball Shuts Down UMES On The First Day

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Freshman Luke Colquette led with 10 kills. 
>> The Red Flash hit a collective .304 hitting percentage.  
>> Saint Francis continues conference with a 3-0 win against UMES (25-22, 25-16, 25-19).

TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
To start the game off on a high note, the Red Flash went on a 6-1 run to set the tone. Saint Francis was down 2-4 when an UMES attacking error put them one point closer. Colquette and Brayden Gall had a duo block to tie the game, and a Cole Dorn ace gave them the lead. UMES made a few more mistakes to up the Red Flash advantage. To end the run and keep the lead, Colquette registered a kill that was set up by Kyle CharlesBrady Stump ended the set with a kill to give Saint Francis the first. This burst of energy pushed them the whole game to sweep the Hawks 3-0.

FLASH MOMENTS 
Sam Lane boosted a quick 5-0 surge to allow Saint Francis to have some breathing room with a 14-6 lead. Lane collected a kill down the middle and a huge rejection block. Stump threw in a kill of his own that was set up by Charles. Colquette had back-to-back kills, which was the game point and final point to take the second set.  

The whole first half of the third set was back and forth points by UMES and Saint Francis until the Red Flash found their momentum to go on an 8-1 run. Stump recorded an ace to start the run right before opposite hitter Colquette collected a kill. Dorn had two kills while Lane threw in one and an ace. To finish off the game, Charles set up a high ball for Stump to send off the hands of the Hawks.  

FLASH NUGGETS
Stump, a two-time NEC Player of the Week and five-time Prime Performer, finished the night with eight kills, five digs, three aces, and three assists. 

Lane collected four kills, three assisted blocks and two solos, and a .571 hitting percentage.  

Charles tossed in 24 assists, three digs, and two kills. 

Colquette registered 10 kills, six digs, three assisted blocks, and a .421 hitting percentage.

The Red Flash will be back tomorrow night to face the Hawks one last time during regular season at 5:00 p.m.
