Saint Francis Men’s Volleyball Claims Another Sweep

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Nathan Zini recorded a team high of 11 kills.

TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
After seven back-to-back points between the Red Flash and the Hawks, Saint Francis went on an 8-2 run to boost them with an 18-13 lead. Brayden Kuruzovich powered this surge with two assists and an ace. Nicholas Lynch recorded an ace followed by several Hawk errors. Cole Dorn and Sam Lane both collected a kill to force a UMES timeout. Brady Stump capped the first set, giving the Red Flash the momentum to win the last two sets.  

FLASH MOMENTS 
Lane boosted a quick 6-0 run with help from his kill, assist, and service ace. Freshman Derek Piatek registered the kill that gave Saint Francis the 7-2 advantage. Kuruzovich threw up a high ball for Lane to lay down and then in the next play collected a kill for himself. Brayden Gall and Dorn had back-to-back duo blocks that ended the second set in Saint Francis's favor.  

To end the game, the Red Flash had two major runs that secured their win. The first was a small 4-0 run with Kuruzovich grabbing two aces. The second was a 4-1 surge to give Saint Francis match point. Dorn recorded a powerful kill that went straight threw UMES's hands. Kuruzovich and freshman Tate Myatt had a duo block that sent the Red Flash bench into excitement. To top off the night, Kuruzovich then set up Myatt for the final kill.  

FLASH NUGGETS
Stump, a two-time NEC Player of the Week and five-time Prime Performer, finished the night with five kills. 

Lane collected four kills, one and a half total blocks, one ace, and a .667 hitting percentage. 

Kuruzovich tossed in 26 assists, seven digs, three kills, and three aces. 

Zini registered 11 kills, three digs, and a .320 hitting percentage. 

Dorn threw in seven kills, eight digs, and three assisted blocks.
