TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
After Saint Francis and George Mason split the first four sets, they were forced into the final set. George Mason had a hot start to the fifth set, going on a 5-1 lead. Zini and Nicholas Lynch both added kills set up by Charles to close the gap. Zini threw in two more kills as did Dorn, but it was not enough to take the fifth set. Saint Francis ended up losing 11-15.
FLASH MOMENTS
Saint Francis started the game off with a 5-1 run. Charles set up Dorn and Jackson Decker with a high ball each to turn into a kill. Sam Lane registered his own kill off of an error set from George Mason. Decker also collected an ace that bounced right off the liberos' hands. Several other players recorded blocks and kills to keep the Saint Francis lead. Zini brought the first set to an end after a kill down the left side.
Down 10-15 in the second set, the Red Flash found some fuel to close the gap. Dorn had the lone kill and solo block. Dorn also had a duo block with Gall followed by a Charles ace. Zini, Gall, Decker, and Lane all threw in kills to bring the game within four points.
The Red Flash went on a 6-0 run fueled by Gall and Decker. Despite a timeout by George Mason, the Saint Francis offense did not stop. Gall and Decker both recorded two kills each before going back and forth with the Patriots. Saint Francis went on another run, this time 6-2. Dorn was set up on the right side from Charles for a kill. Lynch and Gall had a duo block to expand the lead. The next play Gall and Charles posted up for a duo block. The Red Flash continued to dominate the fourth set all the way to the end as Gall capped off the set with a kill to push five sets.
FLASH NUGGETS
Lane collected four kills, four assisted blocks, and a .400 hitting percentage.
Charles tossed in 39 assists, eight digs, three kills, and a .429 hitting percentage.
Zini registered 10 kills, three digs, one assisted block, and an ace.
Dorn threw in 14 kills, 10 digs, and two assisted blocks.
Decker recorded 10 digs, seven kills, three assisted blocks, and a solo block
Gall recorded a career high of 11 kills, two assisted blocks, and a .500 hitting percentage.
Jack Wolgemuth collected a team high of 12 kills.
