WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Saint Francis softball dropped both games against Le Moyne on Sunday afternoon, losing 6-5 in Game one and 9-6 in Game two at the Le Moyne Softball Complex in Syracuse, NY. Throughout the doubleheader, Saint Francis hit four home runs, including the first of freshman Olivia Holtzman's collegiate career.
FLASH MOMENTS
Heading into the third inning of Game One, Saint Francis took an early lead, thanks in part to freshman Olivia Hood, who delivered a triple over the center fielder's head, scoring juniors Aliya Garroway and Marianne Labelle. In the next at-bat, senior Annabelle Farmer drove in a run from third with a sacrifice fly, giving the Red Flash a 3-1 lead. Saint Francis regained the lead in the top of the sixth inning when Garroway drew a walk with the bases loaded, allowing Labelle to score and breaking the 3-3 stalemate for a 4-3 advantage. The Red Flash tied the game once more at the top of the seventh inning when Farmer hit her fourth home run of the season over the fence, evening the score at five runs apiece.
In the second game of the doubleheader, the Red Flash bats showcased their power, starting in the top of the third inning when junior Olivia Kolowitz delivered Saint Francis's first run with an RBI double to the left-field gap, cutting the Dolphins'Â lead to 3-1. Saint Francis once again swung for the fences in the top of the fifth when sophomore Morgan Pasternak smashed a laser over the right-field wall on the first pitch of her at-bat, tightening the gap on the Le Moyne lead to 7-4. Saint Francis hit its third home run of the game during the top of the seventh inning as Holtzman slammed her first career dinger with a shot to deep left field to make the score 9-6.
FLASH NUGGETSÂ
In today's twin billing, two impressive streaks continued. First, Garroway extended her on-base streak to 20 straight games after reaching base safely in both games this afternoon. This is the longest streak since the 2024 season, when Ashley Orischak reached base 26 straight times. Additionally, sophomore Sofia Zielinski recorded a hit in both games, extending her hitting streak to nine straight games, one hit shy of tying teammate Pasternak's team-high streak of 10 earlier this season.
