WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Saint Francis softball stumbles in twin billing against NEC opponent FDU by scores of 14-6 and 6-2, respectively. Junior Aliya Garroway extends her on-base streak to the second-longest in program history, while Sophomore Sofia Zielinski breaks the program record for longest hitting streak in program history.
FLASH MOMENTS
Although the score was not in the Red Flash's favor in either game this afternoon, and despite two lengthy lightning delays, the Saint Francis offense managed to break through in both contests.
In Game one, sophomore Morgan Pasternak lined a single through the right side of the infield to score junior Aliya Garroway, giving Saint Francis a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Despite facing an 11-run deficit, the Flash continued to battle. In the top of the fourth inning, junior Abby Evans scored on a fielder's choice, making it 12-2 in favor of Fairleigh Dickinson. Saint Francis made one final push in the next inning, scoring four runs in an effort to cut the Knights' lead in half. The inning started with Pasternak leading off with her ninth home run of the year. In the following at-bat, freshman Olivia Hood added a home run of her own to make it a 12-5 game. The final runs of the inning came when junior Marianne Labelle recorded her 30th hit of the year, driving in Sophia Rabatin to trim the deficit to 12-6.
Game two remained quiet for the Red Flash offense until the top of the seventh inning. In that frame, with Saint Francis down to its final out and a runner on first, senior Annabelle Farmer showcased her power by blasting her seventh home run of the year over the center-field wall, putting the Red Flash on the board and bringing the score to 6-2.
FLASH NUGGETSÂ

Additionally, Garroway posted a stat line of three walks and two hits, extending her on-base streak to 29 consecutive games, which places her second in program history. She is now two games shy of Jordan Seneca's 31, set in 2017.
