ALTOONA, Pa. -- Saint Francis women's volleyball battled Penn State Altoona on Tuesday night, but the Lions used a strong serving game to pull away for a 3-0 victory at Adler Arena.
The Red Wolves fell 25-11, 25-22 and 25-11.
Saint Francis found its rhythm in the second set, opening with a 4-1 run behind a pair of Alexandra Sappia service aces and a kill from Lorah Thomas. The Red Wolves stayed within striking distance throughout the set before Penn State Altoona closed out the 25-22 victory.
Saint Francis could not overcome its attack errors while falling in straight sets.
Sappia finished with 15 assists, 10 digs and three service aces. Madison Roman led Saint Francis offensively with eight kills, while Thomas added five kills and Ava Holden recorded four.
Saint Francis will stay on the road this weekend when they face Notre Dame of Maryland. The first serve will be at 3:30 p.m on Saturday.Â
