Red Flash Men’s Soccer Clinches Playoff Spot With Win Over Robert Morris

LORETTO, Pa. (Oct. 28, 2007) – Saint Francis scored two late goals in a one minute span to put its 3-1 victory over in-state rival Robert Morris on ice in Northeast Conference men's soccer action on a blustery Sunday afternoon at the Stokes Soccer Complex.

With the win, the Red Flash clinched their second straight trip to the NEC Tournament. They improved to 7-7-2 overall and 5-1-1 in the conference. Saint Francis, which currently sits in second place, will host Mount St. Mary's at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.

Sophomore Daniel Moir (Christchurch, New Zealand/Shirley Boys) (Christchurch, New Zealand / Shirley Boys) had a hand in the last two goals for the Red Flash. He scored the game-winner, the first of his career, at 80 minutes, 8 seconds on a bang-bang play where freshman Patrick Fleming (Dunedin, New Zealand / Bayfield) fed fellow classmate Tyler Hibbs (St. Catherine, Canada / Governor Simcoe) with a pass down the middle of the field. Hibbs played a ball into the left side of the 18-yard box for Moir, who one-time it into the right side of the net for a 2-0 Saint Francis lead.

The Colonials were stunned by the goal and gave up another exactly one minute later. Moir received an assist this time as his corner kick was headed into the left side of the net by senior Bryan Maguire (McAllen, TX/Memorial) (Glasgow, Scotland / Memorial) from 12 yards out at 81:08.

Senior Jeremy Tice (Litteton, CO/Chatfield) (Littleton, Colo. / Chatfield) made it 1-0 at 24:50 by slamming home a perfect cross from senior Bryce Luetzen (Denver, CO/Denver Lutheran) (Denver, Colo. / Denver Lutheran).

Junior goalkeeper Brad Williams (San Lorenzo, CA/Arroyo) (San Lorenzo, Calif. / Arroyo) stopped six shots in the match.

Jacek Przednowek pulled Robert Morris within 3-1 at 85:12 on a breakaway. Tim Kovack fed the streaking Przednowek a pass down the left side. Przednowek released his shot from 16 yards out into the left side of the net.

Matt Felice stopped four shots in goal for the Colonials.

It was an extremely physical match as a total of seven yellow cards were handed out between the two teams.
