Flash Men’s Soccer Suffers Tough Loss Vs. No. 27 Akron

LORETTO, Pa. (Sept. 16, 2007) – No. 27 Akron scored an early goal and then got one as time wound down in the first 45 minutes to put the Saint Francis men's soccer team on its heels in a 4-0 defeat Sunday afternoon at the Stokes Soccer Complex.

Matt Tutich put away a rebound off a Brad Williams (San Lorenzo, CA/Arroyo) (San Lorenzo, Calif. / Arroyo) save to hand the Zips a 1-0 lead just 3 minutes, 48 seconds into the match. Michael Nanchoff then fed Stefan Ostergren a pass for his second goal of the season to give Akron a 2-0 lead with six seconds remaining in the first half. The second goal put the Red Flash in a big hole at the half.

The Zips improved to 4-1 on the season, while Saint Francis dropped to 1-4. The Red Flash will try to bounce back with a 4:30 p.m. contest against Yale on Friday at the Dartmouth Tournament.

SFU was outshot 12-3 in the contest with junior Jon Guse (Chandler, AZ/Hamilton) (Chandler, Ariz. / Hamilton) and sophomore Daniel Moir (Christchurch, New Zealand/Shirley Boys) (Christchurch, New Zealand / Shirley Boys) being stopped on their opportunities. Both teams had three corner kicks.

The Zips also got goals from Elliot Bradbrook and Pablo Moreira in the second half.
