LORETTO, Pa. (Sept. 30, 2007) – The Saint Francis University field hockey team picked up its first win of the 2007 campaign on Saturday at DeGol Field, dropping Siena College 3-1 in the Flash's Northeast Conference opener.
Junior Belen Albanes (Atlanta, Ga./Dunwoody) (Atlanta, Ga./Dunwoody) scored two goals in the victory, her fifth and sixth of the year, including what would prove to be the game-winner in the 45th minute. Senior Anne Paccione (Red Hook, N.Y./Red Hook) assisted on the decisive score.
Sophomore Allison Severage (Garwood, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) (Garwood, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) was the first to crack the scoreboard for either team, registering an unassisted goal just 13 minutes into the game, to set the offensive pace for the Red Flash.
Goalkeeper Erin Reifsteck (Battle Creek, Mich./Saint Phillip) (Battle Creek, Mich./Saint Phillip) also has a solid outing in the win, stopping 11 shots and giving up one goal. Reifsteck now has 121 saves on the season.
The Red Flash return to action on Fri., Oct. 5 when they welcome Quinnipiac for a 7 p.m. game.
