Reifsteck Reaches Saves Milestone, But Red Flash Fall Against Sacred Heart

LORETTO, Pa. (Oct. 26, 2008) – Senior Erin Reifsteck (Battle Creek, Mich./Saint Phillip) (Battle Creek, Mich. / Saint Phillip) stopped 11 shots, but Sacred Heart scored one goal in each half to spoil Senior Day, 2-0, for the Saint Francis field hockey team on Sunday at DeGol Field.

 Reifsteck, who leads the nation with 8.89 saves per game, stopped 11 shots to become the first goalkeeper in school history to 500 career saves (509).

 The Pioneers' Whitney Russo scored on a penalty shot at 27 minutes, 18 seconds, and Carisa Eye tallied her 19th goal of the season at 45:48.

 Sacred Heart outshot the Red Flash 17-7, and held a 7-6 edge in penalty corners.

 Freshman Claire Wilkie (Durban, South Africa/Danville Park Girls) (Durban, South Africa / Danville Park Girls) had a team-high three shots, while senior Jesse Ehrhardt (Hackettstown, N.J./Mount Olive) (Hackettstown, N.J. / Mount Olive) added two.

 Ehrhardt, Reifsteck, Belen Albanes (Atlanta, Ga./Dunwoody) (Atlanta, Ga. / Dunwoody), Erin Weaver (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) (Hummelstown, Pa. / Lower Dauphin) and Sara Wheeler (Canton, Conn./Canton) (Canton, Conn. / Canton) were all honored prior to the game for their four years of hard work and dedication to Saint Francis University.

 Saint Francis will close out the 2008 season with one last home game against Robert Morris at 3 p.m. on Halloween day.
