Red Flash Soccer Shut Out by Bobcats 2-0 in Final Home Game of Season

LORETTO, Pa. (Nov. 2, 2008) – The Saint Francis men's soccer team battled hard but couldn't find the back of the net as they fell to the Quinnipiac Bobcats 2-0 in their final home game of the season on Sunday afternoon at the Stokes Soccer Complex in Loretto.

Senior defender John Guse (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) and senior goalkeeper Brad Williams (San Lorenzo, CA/Arroyo) (San Lorenzo, Calif./Arroyo) were honored prior to the game as they will complete their eligibility at the end of this season.

Neither team scored in the first half, with a defensive battle being played out mostly at midfield.  Only 11 minutes into the second half, Bobcat goalkeeper Freddy Hall sent to the ball to midfielder Graciano Brito.  Brito made his way up of the field, then split two defenders before putting the ball past Williams from 10 yards out to put Quinnipiac up 1-0.

Brito scored again with 13 seconds left in the game to secure a 2-0 win for the Bobcats.  Brito again took the ball up the middle of the field, and was met by Williams who came out to play it.  Brito go past Williams and sent the ball into the middle of the net for his second tally of the game.
