REIFSTECK’S 10 SAVES NOT ENOUGH IN RED FLASH LOSS VERSUS COLGATE

LORETTO, Pa. (Sept. 22, 2008) – The Saint Francis defense finally cracked late in the first half and Colgate carried that momentum into the second half of a 3-0 field hockey victory over the Red Flash on Sunday at DeGol Field.

Laura Denenga scored from just inside the circle with under one second remaining in the first half to give the Raiders the momentum, and a 1-0 lead. Colgate (4-4) outshot SFU 8-0 in the first half, and 15-2 in the game.

The Red Flash fell to 1-6 on the season, and will try to bounce back when they travel to Bucknell for a 7 p.m. non-conference match on Wednesday night.

Lauren Carey made it 2-0 at 41:20 when she back-handed a shot past senior goalkeeper Erin Reifsteck (Battle Creek, Mich./Saint Phillip) (Battle Creek, Mich. / Battle Creek).

The Red Flash had their best chance of the game, and nearly made it 2-1, on a deflection from senior Belen Albanes (Atlanta, Ga./Dunwoody) (Atlanta, Ga. / Dunwoody), at 50:49.

However, the Raiders would put it out of reach on Rebecca Anderson's goal at 60:32. Laura Flisnik sent a shot from just inside the circle that Anderson re-directed past Reifsteck to give Colgate a 3-0 lead.

Reifsteck stopped 10 shots in the game, including several outstanding saves.
