LEWISBURG, Pa. (Sept. 24, 2008) – The Saint Francis field hockey team fell to host Bucknell on Thursday evening in Lewisburg. The Red Flash, who are now 1-7 this season, were shut out 6-0.
The team returns Philadelphia this weekend for a 1 PM match-up at La Salle on September 28. They then return home to host West Chester at 3 PM on October 3 at DeGol Field.
The Flash had a total of three shots in the game, with two coming from sophomore midfielder Julia Bacsezki (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug) and the other coming courtesy of freshman midfielder Jayme Riccio (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East).
Senior goalkeeper Erin Reifsteck (Battle Creek, Mich./Saint Phillip) (Battle Creek, Mich./Saint Phillip) stopped 7 shots, as the Bison out shot the Red Flash 17-3.
Bison player Trina Boyer scored 3 minutes into the first half off of a rebound to give Bucknell a 1-0 lead. Teammate Megan Krebbs found the back of the net less than 5 minutes later off of a penalty corner to put the Bison up 2-0. Sarah Hermann then scored with less than 10 minutes remaining in the half to put the Bison up 3-0 heading into the locker room.
The Bison's second half goals came from Kelly Bruvik who was assisted by Boyer, and Caroline Coady, who would also score off a penalty corner.
