Red Flash Field Hockey Shut Out at League-Leading Lock Haven

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Oct. 18, 2009) – Sophomore goalkeeper Kate Vitali (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) (Bel Air, Md./C Milton Wright) made 12 stops, but the Saint Francis field hockey team couldn't find the back of the net and were shut out 4-0 at Lock Haven in Sunday afternoon.

 The SFU defense played well in the first half, keeping the game 0-0 for much of the first half. With less than 15 minutes to play in the half, the Bald Eagles Casey Hughes scored off of a penalty corner to put LHU up 1-0.

 Lock Haven managed one more goal before halftime. At 31:06, Amy Hordendorf deflected the ball into the net to make the score 2-0 in favor of Lock Haven.

 The second half also started of with Saint Francis playing strong defense. It took another 20 minutes for LHU to score. The Bald Eagles went up 3-0 at 50:29 when Amy Lewis knocked in rebound.

 Five minutes later, Hordendorf deflected in her second of the game to put the final score at 4-0 in favor of Lock Haven.

 The Red Flash were outshot 26-3 in the game. SFU got shots from Rebecca Reiff (Farmingdale, N.J./Wall) (Wall, N.J./Wall) and Julia Moore (Jarrettsville, Md./North Harford) (Jarrettsville, Md./North Harford).

 SFU will host Rider on Sunday at 1 pm in the team's annual Senior Day celebration.
