HUNTINGDON, Pa. (Sept. 13, 2009) – Elahn Pogue (St. Catherines, Ontario/West Park Secondary) and
Stephen Kowalski (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East) both earned singles wins to lead the Saint Francis men's tennis team past Juniata 9-0 on Sunday afternoon in Huntingdon.
Pogue defeated the Eagles' Jarrad Silver 6-0, 6-1 while Kowalski earned a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Brice Morey. Steven Child (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster County Day) beat Tucker Good 6-1, 6-0.
Andres Rosa (Carolina, Puerto Rico/Colegio la Piedad) (Carolina, Puerto Rico/Colegio de Piedad), Nathanial Fleming (Gas City, Ind./Mississinewa) and
Peter Dietrich (Halifax, Nova Scotia/Citadel) (Halifax, Nova Scotia/Citadel) also earned wins to finish out the sweep.
In double action, Fleming and partner
Youlian Natchev (Sofia, Bulgaria/Rovel College) defeated Juniata's Good and Andrew Hoffman by a score of 8-1.
Kirby Mendes (Unionville, Ontario/Niagara Academy of Tennis) (Unionville, Ontario/Niagara Academy) and Matt Jurjevich (London, Ontario/Niagara Academy) earned a win over Morey and Alden Hiller, 8-3.
The Red Flash will be back in action on September 20 at Mount St. Mary's.
