Red Flash Field Hockey Drops 5-0 Decision to Colgate


HAMILTON, N.Y. (Sept. 20, 2009) – Junior captain Caitlin Brown (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg) (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg) had a team-high five shots, but couldn't put one on net as the Saint Francis field hockey team's offensive struggles continued and they dropped a 5-0 decision to Colgate on Sunday afternoon in New York.

The Red Flash now fall to 0-8 on the season.  They will continue to try for their first win they play St. John's on Saturday in Lock Haven.

The SFU defense held strong, keeping the game scoreless for thirteen minutes.   Colgate's Katelyn Nerbonne then tapped one in from the circle unassisted to put the Red Raiders up 1-0. 

Laura Denenga netted two more for Colgate before the half was over.  Courtney Burke gave the Red Raiders a 4-0 with one minute remaining in the first half.

Nerbonne netted one more goal with eight minutes left in the game to give Colgate a 5-0 win over the Red Flash.

Senior goalkeeper Sara Dittmann (State College, Pa./State College) (State College, Pa./State College Area) was solid with seven saves on the day.

Colgate outshot SFU 22-10.  Two of Brown's shots came on goal.  Freshman Tia Dudukovich (Port Matilda, Pa./State College Area) (Port Matilda, Pa./State College Area) had two shots, both of which came on goal.
