EMMITSBURG, Md. (Sept. 20, 2009) – The Saint Francis men's and women's tennis teams fell to Mount St. Mary's by scores of 4-3 and 7-0, respectively, in Emmitsburg on Sunday afternoon.

The women's team will travel to Annapolis, Md., next weekend for the Navy Tournament.  The men will return to action on October 17 at George Mason.

Elahn Pogue (St. Catherine's, Ontario/West Park Secondary) was a double winner for the Red Flash, as he first defeated MSM's Patrick Plastow 6-1, 6-2 and then teamed with Nathaniel Fleming (Gas City, Ind./Mississinewa) to beat Plastow and Matthew Blake by a score of 8-1.

Stephan Kowalski (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East) also took two matches Saint Francis.  Kowalski earned a victory over the Mount's Thad Mostowtt by score of 2-6, 6-0, 6-2.  He then went on to defeat Mike Saloman and Andrew Marinucci, 8-1, with partner Andres Rosa (Carolina, Puerto Rico/Colegio la Piedad) (Carolina, Puerto Rico/Colegio Le Piedad).

The women didn't fare as well, and couldn't take a match from Mount St. Mary's.  Abby Ball (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria) lost in a hard fought battle to Emily Bolchoz by scores of 6-4, 6-1.

Ashley Zalewski (Vandergrift, Pa./Kiski Area) (Vandergrift, Pa./Kiski Area) and Maya Ranchod (Ellwood City, Pa./Lincoln) (Ellwood City, Pa./Lincoln) also fell to Emily Grugan and Emma Haley by a score of 8-2.
